There was a Boosey eefer on that online auction site a few months back that had a bizarre two-tone lacquer job in gold and blue. My impression is that the lacquer got in the way of selling the thing (potential buyers saying "Well, first I'll hafta have the horn relacquered, 'cause there's no way I'm gonna be seen in public with it lookin' like that").

Something to consider if you ever intend on selling that chartreuse-with-fuschia-and-teal-polka dots-decorated horn. Of course, a tuba done in high gloss mandarin red with highlights in gilded chinoisrie with an oriental scene painted on the inside of the bell might get you a spot in an art exhibit...

But be tasteful!
