Overall, yep I agree. Especially on the mpc. part. It's really taken me a while to find a good mpc. I've actually had good results with a Conn 2!!! I did run into some intonation problems with the larger mouthpieces I tried, but overall, I still liked the sound. Still, good tuba. As with most any valve instrument, the intonation problems were easily corrected by an alternate fingering. ONE PROBLEM: VALVE GUIDES. My guides wore VERY quickly. I'm talkin' 6-8 months. My understanding is that this problem was addressed at the factory and a better quality plastic (or whatever) is being used. I asked around at the 2002 ITEC. Dealer (Brasswind) sent me new guides. NO PROBLEM SINCE. So, keep an eye out for any sudden and dramatic wear on guides.
