Hi guys -

Sorry I left that bit of info out. I have a Conn 56J that really does fill the gap between a little too small and a little too large. It's small enough to play chamber music on as well as solo works and the larger bell allows me to still take care of my "orchestral jollies".

I've never picked a tuba by bore size - rather - I go with tone size. Matt has made some incredible 4/4 instruments that I would be very comfortable with in a large orchestral situation. It's really about how you play the horn (and yes, at times, how it plays you).

I must add that I would have waited for a Dillon creation - but Matt is so damned busy, he doesn't have time to take care of my impulsive/compulsive abnormalities. I have to wait just like everyone else.

The Conn - since Matt developed the proto-type and was kind enough to tweak this one for me - was the next best thing. I'm quite happy with it.

Hope this answers your questions.
