Well, ever since I started playing the piccolo back in 7th grade, I've had the dream of learning tuba and spanning the entire range of the band. I never really moved on the idea until Dan offered to teach me.

I started on his tuba, but then I asked my band director for a school one; so now I have one of my own. It is an F.E. Olds and Son, but I can't find a model number on it or anything. Dan says it is on the bigger side of being a 3/4 size tuba. My mouthpiece says that it is a Vincent Bach 22.

The solo that I picked out for the NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) Festival is called "King Neptune" and it is by Acton Ostling, who I have yet to research at all. I started working on it today. I'm sure I sounded horrible, but it was recognizable and I was so excited to be playing something other than an F scale.

Thanks for welcoming me into the ranks of Tuba players!
