The New England Brass Band (Douglas Yeo, Music Director) announces auditions for:

E flat bass (tuba)
BBflat bass (tuba)

The auditions will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at 12:30 PM. Candidates will be asked to play two solos of their own choice (contrasting styles including lyrical and articulated playing) as well as the following passages from Kevin Norbury's "Spirit of Adventure" (music will be provided to auditioning candidates):

measures 138 - 150

The New England Brass Band is an all-volunteer 30 piece brass and percussion ensemble "In The British Tradition" which members share a high level of commitment and artistry. Douglas Yeo, bass trombonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra is the band's Music Director; Terry Everson, professor of trumpet at Boston University is the band's Principal Cornetist and Assistant Conductor. The band has an active performing and recording schedule; it rehearses weekly on Monday nights from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Congregational Church in Wilmington, Massachusetts (north of Boston on Route 62 in Wilmington, exit 40 off Interstate 93). Auditions will be held at the Wilmington Congregational Church.
Members of the band play instruments designed for British Brass Band use; candidates auditioning for the tuba position are requested to use E flat and BB flat basses if at all possible. All candidates should be aware that the band's music, as is the tradition with brass band music, is written in E flat and BB flat treble clef.
