From what I can figure, over twenty years, if you keep a horn in MINT condition, and it's a desirable one to start with, it might hold it's value, but certainly not double in value. For example, and perhaps not a good one, my 188 cost $4400 (dealer's cost) in 1985 as I recall. It was a good era for this model, I suppose, but I'd be lucky to get my initial investment back if I were to sell it today. Only a VERY unique horn, like the Yorkbrunner, which sold for about 10 grand when they came out roughly twenty years ago, and sell at Custom for about 18 grand now would show even close to that kind of dramatic increase over a two decade span. I don't see the King being unique or rare enough to show any kind of great appreciation in value.

Is there something about the tuba business that is going to change drastically over the next several years that will justify your assertion?
