First of all, what a well written story you have created. I appreciated reading this post. You should be a storyteller if you aren't already.
Tuba A, because when it comes down to it, sound is everything! If you can work out the other stuff to a satisfactory level, your sound will pull you through.
Of course, you also save your money to get a another horn to compliment Tuba A. (This may also take 35 years to do!)
