That doesn't mean that they loan it to you. That means that you buy it, and you have a week or so to be happy with it, and if you are not, you send it back, and they refund the money less the shipping charges, assuming you didn't mess it up.

When I bought the Holton, it was on approval. Dave called me a few days later, I told him I was happy, and my receipt came in the mail the next day. I don't think I got any special treatment.

That doesn't mean that the local band store, which will have to special-order a tuba in any case, will sell it to you on approval. Even so, a friend just bought a King on special order from a local band store, and the first one had problems and they sent it back. The second one was a gem.
