I'd suggest that there is a certain mouthpiece, and certain leadpipe that is right for a certain horn. When I find the right match, I use that mouthpiece when I play that horn. If I were to put a custom leadpipe on an instrument of mine, it would stay on that instrument. There are too many variables in instruments and leadpipes for switching a leadpipe from one instrument to another to work, unless you play trumpet or trombone, and even then it is not very fruitful.
