Yes, I have to admit that I preferred the Clement red glue, and I also have to admit that I only ever owned one set of Criterium Seta Extras for a rarely ridden set of race wheels. I usually rode cotton tires--silk was a bit beyond the college-student budget.
I hated sew-ups then as I hate them now. At least now we have reasonable alternatives.
