Thats about it Joe. I've played tubas that had to be played 2-3 for the fourth partial. In addition to 1-3 for the third.
I would like to own one, but I think, due to the oddities of this instrument, that it should be about $500 to $1000 less. However, if one can succeed with this horn and there might exist a mouthpiece to help cure (may be a possibility) some of the intonation problems, it is a good deal at the starting price for a 5/4 CC tuba.
Like you said, if it had piston valves, it would already be a $6K if someone would mention the "magic" that this particular horn would posess.
