I have never played a moment in a military band. However my opinion is far from worthless. For you see I passed the audition to be in the Marine Band. I spent 78 glorious life changing days on Parris Island trying to be a marine. I learned a very valuable lesson while doing so. I do not have the diposition to be a marine. I tried very hard and ran my butt off. It was very difficult for me. It did not work out and changed my life dramatically. So to say veterans only would do a severe disservice to Matt. Sometimes the only way to learn if you can do something is to try. At least I had the balls to try.
