Chances are that they might find palyers of similar abilities in the finals, and they would (maybe rightly so, if they feel it helps to maintain the characteristic sound of the orchestra)pick the rotary player. Lesson to learn (hopefully not the hard way): If you want to audition in Germany, play a ROTARY horn!
My question for the people who know...do you have to show up to the audition with the BBb? I have heard that most big orchestras own a BBb (as well as a cimbasso)for the tubist to use.
