It appears that, so far, the only person who told you not to buy an F tuba is a professional who absolutely needed a contrabass tuba for his specialized job.
Particularly considering that you have a contrabass at your disposal, enjoy the F...particularly if that is what you want to do. After all, the entire discipline of music is an elective pursuit. There are no "absolute musts" in music...If there were, there would be little disagreement on this board, and of course most threads here celebrate disagreement.
