I am currently using a Schilke 51D (small shank) and it really hurts my lips. My endurance stinks and my high range seems choked and unresponsive. I do like the dark tone quality the mouthpiece helps produce. Are there other, more comfortable, mouthpieces that will produce a dark tone. I have heard that the Wick SM series is excellent but they are not availbable in small shank. Suggestions?
