DV,
In all seriousness, I'd say the 88 would be overstepping things in volume probably.

Do you own/play a contra-bass? You can't expect to match the output of a good CC/BB with your Eb. There's only so far one can go with opening-up the sound using still-bigger mouthpieces.

Think of it like Cars; Two cars can both do 100mph but the little one is working its butt off whilst the Sports car is cruising in 3rd gear and can crank things up if need be...

When very large mouthpieces are used with smaller instruments, the cup volume and throat/backbore 'tend' not to compliment the existing qualities of the horn and often give unworkable intonation problems as well as issues with projection and timbre. This can be remedied somewhat with 'matched' backbores such as the Doug Elliott line but the temptation is always that some other mouthpiece will be that 'magic' one. Probably ain't so. Wick 2's are fine. Put in the hours on your output in the usual way and look for results that way.

IMO, much bigger than the Wick 2 would probably cause problems.
By all means try the 88 however as nothing in this game is 'fact'.

MP Who uses a Bach 18 with his 981 btw.
