I'd second that nomination. I remember back in the Pleasure Island Phil (a five piece Mickey Mouse group in Orlando), I had brought a euphonium in to mess around with one night and John Allred happened to be subbing for our clarinet player. John asked to try the euphonium for a tune and proceeded to blow his butt off for the entire evening on the axe. He made that thing sound like a slide trombone and a tuba at the same time. It was totally awesome.
