Chuck,
At a conference two weeks ago, I encountered the former bass trombonist of the Birmingham symphony, who now runs his own brass shop, and imports Thein trombones. During his clinic I played several new Theins ranging from alto to a new BBb contrabass, with FF rotor. Using my Thein MC-lightweight mouthpiece, it responded better and sounded less tubby and splatty than the other contrabass trombones I've played. This particular model he has in stock now had been slightly damaged in shipping (and repaired since), but he discounting the price on the instrument to where I believe it is below $7,500.00. The double slide is smoother than many single trombone slides I've played, and the workmanship is exquisite. I don't think any serious pro would ever be disappointed with this instrument. I have the guy's business card in the shop, and can send you his contact info if you like.
