TubaChristmas Nashville was held in the Great Hall of the Nashville Public Library. The space was all marble and three stories tall... very live. The ensemble was on the balcony on the second floor that went completely around the perimeter of the room. The conductor (G.R. Davis) and guest conductor (Harvey) were in the center of the first floor. The only real problem was that when you stood on the balcony behind your music stand, you could not see the conductor. G.R. ended up asking me and a buddy to mirror conduct from his pattern so that the folks up on the second floor could see. It ended up sounding fine, but I wanted to play. At least this year we were warm. Last year we were in an open parking stucture outside a mall... and COLD. Then my students and I went to a great little Ethiopian restaurant.
