I have played Mirafone 186 tubas for most of my life. I have bought and sold many other CC tubas trying to find a better fit and have always found my way home to Mirafones. I now primarily play a B&S PT6 and Mein Weston F tuba because they fit my particular nrrds and tastes. However, I recommend Mirafones to most of my students because they work well, sound good, are versatile, are affordable, and are consistent.

To use an analogy to cars, the 186 is a lot like a Toyota Camry. Its not as sporty as a Porsche and can't tow as much as a Ford 250, but it handles everyday driving as well as, or better than, most any other car on the market.

As others have said, there really aren't too many people who "hate" Mirafones.
