That's exactly why I did it. I wanted my thumb not only to look uncomfortable, but to be uncomfortable as well.
(Smart-assin' aside, it couldn't be more comfortable. The only things that touch the thumb are the rollers - first one and then, as the stroke continues, the other...and I took pains to fit the rollers to the screws and to the carriages so they do not rattle.)
