I have not played a 661-6, but if it is good as the 654-6, then I would seriously consider it. The 661-6 is a larger-bore 4+2 valve horn, with the same bell diameter as the Piggy CC and the same bore size as the 686 CC. The 654-6 is a bit smaller, with a 14.25" bell and about a .709" bore, as opposed to the .787" of the 661-6. Maybe that's why the 654-6 sings like a euphonium in the upper register. I particularly like the quint valve on the 654-6, which is a .810" bore valve past the main tuning slide that lowers the pitch by a 5th. It enables a smaller F tuba to sound like a big F tuba in the low range, with just about the best low G and F# of any F tuba I've played.
