hello everyone. i recently got a new cerveney 686 tuba as a birthday/christmas gift.
it sounds beautifull and the valves are so smooth, i just love it! (then again all ive ever played is school tubas that are ancient and abused). however it has recently developed a slight clanky noise in the first valve. i saw another post with a similar problem on a cerveney piggy on the 4th valve, but for some reason i couldnt post a followup so i just posted here. i have no experience with rotary valves whatsoever and any input, ideas, suggestions, etc would be greatly appreciated. i will eventually get it in to be checked over at a place like dillions, but i am located in kingston, ny so while its a doable trip, my time constraints dont allow it anytime soon, any short term fixes that you may know of would be great. its my first horn so it seems like a good idea to ask people who have more experience in such matters before tinkering with it . if theres anything you need to know further to make a diagnosis just post what ya need here, i check this place out pretty regularly. thanks in advance! Ken Sickler
