I've heard only good things about Singapore as a place, it is supposed to be very save. And the Orchestra seems to be doing verry well; they are putting out CDs on a regular basis and look at theyr repertoire this year!
There are also some very strong players in there. I know one of the trombonists, who is one of the finest players I met.
As for the salery just follow the link for the add that someone posted earlier. 40,000 is not bad at all.
