There are multitudes of more competent tubists on this BBS. My footsteps are certainly not the be-all and end-all of tuba knowledge!!!

Go to the vendor/store page of TUBENET and hook up with any of the stores listed there.
Talk to their tuba specialist, you don't want somebody that's just reading the descriptions out of a catalog. Discuss your playing experience, your goals and the type of sound that you want. Then get into the technical details of rim shape, cup, throat, backbore specifics. Call them this week, so you don't miss them while they are at the Army Tuba/Euph conference later next week.

You could put up a posting looking for anyone in your immediate vicinity. Maybe someone can meet you with their collection of tuba mouthpieces.

Good luck,
David

P.S. A Conn Helleberg is a good all around economical mouthpiece with a slightly flat, but not broad, rim. Bachs have more rounded rims. Both can be had for 50 bucks or less. Schilke and Wick mouthpieces can be found in the 60's.
