My suggestion would be to move it just a millimeter toward center at first, and see if that creates problems. If it does then stick with what works for you. If it doesn't then try another millimeter a few weeks later.
A friend of mine is a fine cornetist who used to play out of the side of his mouth and then learned to play from the center. Now he can improvise respectable duets, playing two cornets at once, using the old placement for one of them. When I told him how impressive I thought that was he said in a sheepish way, "yeah, but I can only do it in B-flat."
