Yup, the 3301/3302 have a short slide in the leadpipe. Of course, it's hard to argue whether it's still a "leadpipe" by that point anyway, since it's pretty far from the mouthpiece (not much longer than rotary tubas' leadpipes, either).

I never use it for tuning, though. I pull it out to dump water, and I expect that it collects spit & debris before it has a chance to contaminate the valves.

I also thought right away of the Hirsbrunner model with the short loop on the front side of the bell. That horn isn't a dog.
