Funny that this thread came up-I was just talking about this combination to a friend of mine. Tuba and guitar work together VERY well. I co-lead a jazz trio consisting of trumpet/vocals, tuba and banjo/guitar. When we do ballads we use guitar and the tuba matches it perfectly.
