I said that TO DOUBLERS (or to those just startiong out on that road) that the whole passive/active thing is really meaningless. This might or might not change after he has had the bass for a while and if he gets to the point where it needs to matter. Most good passive rigs are cheaper than active and never have the problem of having the battery die on you in the middle of a tune.

I was attempting to warn Rick off of the single most common ploy used by salesmen to get him to "trade up" his new-found toy to some 5- or 6-stringed active bass that will cost him a lot more and not might sound as good as this little P-bass.
