...and of course the same note is truly different in pitch depending on the key and chord as it fits into the musical structure. The only problem singing cases me is an occasional unconscious manipulation of throat muscles when playing a new piece as I mentally vocalise. Tuners are nifty gimmicks and I can think of plausible uses for one in very limited circumstances. Heck, I use one frequently when adjusting my old turntable to play 78's which are all over the map in pitch and appropriate playback speed to something close to 440. (I'm passably fair at relative pitches but appalling at absolute pitches.) (For years I blatted along to Moonglow in the key of C# ....until I realized that some cursed engineer had simply elected to squish more music onto the limited groove space by manipulating the recording's pitch. Good training in the accidentals I suppose.)
But when playing music I use my ears.
