Five or six years ago I bought a PT-6S for $10,000.. came to $11,000 after the addition of a cheap nasty gig bag and hard case and shipping. They also fed me the line about prices getting ready to go up and how luck I was that I bought when I did.
As is common with B&S tubas I've had multiple loose solder joints over the years. The bell does not fit properly and hasn't been attached for over a year(tired or running a new bead of solder and seeing it come free again a month later) and to really fix it properly the horn needs an overhaul.
Did I get completely reamed or is it my imagination?
On the up side.. despite the physical problems it really is an absolutely phenominal horn.. I've yet to play any other horn(PT-6 or otherwise) that calls to me the way this one does. Almost afraid to have it fixed up.
