Most of the better playing contrabass trombones are in F or G.
The BBb contras that I have tried are stuffy and weighty. Part of the reason for the F or G models.
It seems to me that many of the benefits of having a C horn would be accomplished by using the F side and playing C in 1st position, albeit that the stuffiness from playing the F section in the longer positions would occur. The stuffiness is less pronounced on the balanced/axial flow valves, but is still there to some extent.
