On my six-valve (never owned a 5-valve and never considered one viable) I have - after owning it 22 years - installed a right hand thumb 5th valve slide trigger.

I only did this for the luxury of being able to play low "pedal" F with the fingering 561234 to offer more pitch and tonal stablity on that pitch, when desired.

There are no other pitches on my F tuba that require triggering/slide pulling. Further (admittedly bordering on snottiness, and unfortunately not the case with the selection of available CC* tubas) if someone has an F tuba that requires triggering/slide pulling for everyday playing, they've simply selected the wrong F tuba.

*Yes, yes. I do a considerable amount of slide pulling on my CC instrument.
