The guy here in town who books all of the local players for the Broadway road shows is just such a player...finally bought himself an el-crapo 1960's-'70's Holton-Yamaha top-action 3/4 BBb from me...under $500...after years and years of having no tuba. He thought he could do the "bass trombone mouthpiece" thing, because he played on a "big" bass trombone mouthpiece. I told him he'd be right back to buy a tuba mouthpiece...

Realistically, on a professional level, tuba is a bad double for him because of the embouchure...
