Jason,
The Neptunes are very different and I suggest you play some examples of each to get a true sense for those horns. The rotary version is an excellent instrument, already tricked out with coins on the spatulas, an extra leadpipe, and vented valves, and the brasswind lowered their price. I, however own the piston valve version, which tend to be not as good, but mine is an excellent one (thankfully!) and I wouldn't let go of it very easily at all. But you have to try them. A good neptune is a bargain on the 6/4 CC tuba market for circa $8K. I feel as far as the Willson is concerned however these are two totally different horns. I think the Meinl Weston 2155CC is a little closer to this horn or a Rudy Meinl 5/4, or even a B&S PT-6(p). The Willsons I have played have a good open blow with good low registers, but sometimes a little more quirky than I care as far as intonation goes. Hope this helps.

Matt G
