I have a Pro-Tec and Alteri w/ my two horns. The Pro-Tec is on my larger horn and I agree that it gives the better protection, padding-wise, but you give up choices on size as they come in only small and large. I have a 188 in the smaller size, which is a tight fit, but OK. The carrying aspect is uncomfortable because of the weight of the bag and the cinching hardware on the straps, but the owner told me at last year's NAMM show that will be changing. The Alteri came with the smaller 185 when I bought it and fits very well and seems like a quality bag, but the thinner padding makes it lighter. Had a nice leather RB w/ my old 184. Good protection, but heavy. A matter of trade offs in each case, so to speak.
