In Yamaha-speak, the first digit in the model number refers to the
instrument's quality. 3xx instruments are "standard" (student)
grade, 4xx are "intermediate", 6xx are "professional" and 8xx are
"custom". There are 5xx and 7xx models in woodwinds but I don't
think, offhand, there are any brasses in these catagories. I don't
think there is any deep meaning in the last two digits- just a way
to distinguish one horn from another
