When I was a in high school we played miraphones 186 's and then as a "reward" for doing great in all my competitions the director decided to buy a Yamaha 641 that lasted about a week I dumped and went back to my old clackity miraphone not only did I hate the sound when I played along with the miraphones the tuning was terrible on some notes and I could not play D 1&2 I had to play it 3rd, it did not last long later I got a yamaha 621 that was a good horn for a few years then I plyed the St Pete, I fell in love with the sound so far the only other horn I have played that match the sound is the new miraphone 191 a great horn I played at TBA. The valves were slow on the yamaha my valves on the St pete are good. And as said for the priceb the St Pete is a great horn, my director I quote "that yamaha tuba is the most expensive horn I ever bought" He was not done he bought me a Yamaha sousaphone I let a freshman have it and played My King old but beautiful
