I recently got Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now", and for all of us music lovers (tuba freaks) it's wonderful listening in every aspect. Supreme and sensible vocal by Mrs. Mitchell, mostly jazzy/bluesy ballads, and very well made and tuba friendly arrangements by Vince Mendoza.

He sure knows how to utilize both strings, woodwinds and brass. And at the bottom we find one of UK's top orchestral and studio tubists: Owen Slade. No soloing, but nice presence troughout the recording. Hey, there's even a quite exposed pedal note! ("Comes Love").

Other titles include "You're my thrill", "At last", "Sometimes I'm happy" and Joni Mitchell's own songs "A Case of You" and the title track "Both Sides Now". Solo performances by such notable jazz dudes as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Peter Erskine.

Just to let you know.

Bjorn
