It all depends on where the valves are, relative to the various nodes and antinodes for the particular notes being played. It is quite possible that leaky valves could make some notes sharp, others flat.

A simple experiment to try is to use mineral oil (sold as an intestinal lubricant at drug stores) on your valves for a few minutes. This will make your valves very sluggish, but should seal up all but the most severe leaks. Wiping off the valves with regular valve oil should remove the mineral oil after the experiment.
