Squirting oil down the slides is not a good option. It will:
A) Dilute any slide grease
B) Send that diluted muck into you valves.
Jay was on the mark with sending it through the leadpipe. However, I would oil the spindles and bearings at least every other week, if not weekly. This is the source of significant wear on rotary valves. DLH
