Then perhaps MY tuba is also one of those rare 5/4 Nirschls. The serial number is 09482. Its configuration is quite different from that of the WN-15. It is finished in lacquer. The 5th valve rotor appears after the piston valveset, and it is connected to the thumb paddle by a very long linkage on the left side of the horn (not under my palm as I play). The throat has a very ornate engraving with the words, "Meister Walter Nirschl." I am told that this horn was built approximately 5 1/2 years ago, shortly after Herr Nirschl left the employ of Gerhard Meinl. It was received by Orpheus Music at that time. Lee Hipp labelled it as a 5/4; can anyone verify if this is one of the 5/4 Nirschls?

In any event, I love my horn!!!!
