You might want to take a look at a Weril. There is a good review of Werils in the December 1999 archives of this BBS. It's a small instrument, but it plays well and has good intonation, looks great, and it has the most comfortably-arranged valve setup of any tuba I have ever seen. It's also a bargain. You can get them from the Brasswind, Dillon, Dave Fedderly, etc. If you choose to move up to a bigger instrument someday you will want to keep the Weril just for its portability. If you always keep it in its case you will always be able to recover your investment. They are made in both BBb and CC.
