Put down the Brasso and step away from the horn. As Joe S. said.. if you were worried about Wright's Silver Polish, Brasso is multiple times worse. Any Brass polish by definition is going to take a small layer of your instrument away.. atleast in theory reducing the life of your horn(if brass gets too thin repair techs won't want to work on it anymore) AND any brass polish is bound to be multiple times more corrosive and abbrasive to your silver plating than any silver polish would be. It doesn't take a lot of brasso to remove silver.

If I were you I would just let the raw brass patina over. It'll still look plenty nice and give you more time to practice. :)
