DON'T DO IT! I had dissolving sutures when I got mine pulled and I wanted to pick up the tuba so bad. I tried playing almost a week after the surgery... the swelling was already pretty much gone. Well, to make a long story short I blew the sutures right out and had to rush to the doctor and get sewn back up. Blood all inside the tuba, it was a mess! Sometimes there are exceptions to the concept of constant practicing. I learned that the hard way, don't be like me.
