I played one when I was playing with my community band and couldn't get to my own horn for a few rehearsals. I think it was a 20J, but it was a three valve, top action horn. This one was pretty beat up but it had a nice open playing feel. The recording bell is a bit of a pain to get used to and you have the issue of a more directional sound, but that's not always bad. I have played much worse tubas and I have played on better. If you like playing top action valves I would say that a 4 valve version could serve as a primary horn for a hobby player. Of course every instrument is different and I am sure that there are dogs among these horns also. Just my 2 cents.
