That all depends on what your needs are (what type of playing you'll be doing), and how much you want to spend. Many folk around here have listed the Miraphone 186 5 valve as being a most versatile tuba, and giving you the most "bang for you buck". Some people are saying wonderful things about the new Conn CC tuba (forgot the model number), but they're apparently next to impossible to find. I'm interested in the Conn tuba myself. If you need something a bit bigger than a 4/4 CC, some people highly recommend the Miraphone 1290 which is also reasonably priced (reletively speaking). If you're anywhere in the middle of the country, you might want to make a trip to "The Woodwind and The Brasswind" to go toot on different horns. Happy hunting.
