1) Where you and the teacher get along and have the same goals.
2) Where there are plenty of good ensembles - both large and small.
3) Where they bring in quality guest artists/lecturers.
4) Where the college has a good academic reputation as well.
5) Where you can afford to go - scholarships, financial aid, etc.
I'm sure I could think of more. But that would be a start.
