One less obvious factor of manufacture is how the different bows, bell, and other parts do align behind the large ferrules/rings. Most of these soldered connections are hidden.

But I have done the test to have my fingers run along the inner part of the bell to bottom bow solderings of my tubas/euph respectively the the "stack" to largest bow connection of my sousas.

The Conn sousas are by far the smoothest ones at that point. But of course they are not modern. They are from before 1930.

I do guess that smooth and strong solderings are essential in creating optimal ressonance in a brass instrument.
