What's the worst they can do if you answer honestly? Not let you in.
What's the worst they can do if you lie, they let you in, and then they find out about it? Oh, much, much worse. (I won't go into it here.)
A tour of service with one of the military bands can be a wonderful and rewarding experience, but if your four or six years are spent hiding something, looking over your shoulder, and wondering when they'll find out that you lied to them, I dare say that would take the fun out of it.
It's your decision, and I wish you the best of luck in your musical career wherever it may lead you.
